National Director of Sales - Food Service
World Centric, a green enterprise in Palo Alto, California, has an immediate opening for a Director of Sales. World Centric sells biodegradable and compostable food service products which are a replacement for Styrofoam, plastic and paper products as part of its mission to reduce environmental degradation.
Experience in the Food Service industry is required, with demonstrated success in growing sales into large food distributors, national accounts, chain accounts and/or specific food service channels. The Director of Sales will also be responsible for overall sales strategy and as well growing and managing sales/territory managers and external network of brokers.
This is a startup, fast paced environment and we are looking for someone who can take leadership, work well with others, play a key role in the growth of the company and as well is committed to environmental and social issues and feels passionate about making a difference.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a national sales strategy plan
- Grow sales into large food distributors, chain accounts and specific market channels
- Recruit and manage brokers, sales and territory managers.
- Maintain excellent level of communication and service with key national accounts, vendors, Sales Team, Operations, Supply Chain, and other internal and external stakeholders
- Develop effective and efficient internal processes and communication tools to assist the sales team in achieving their goals
- Monitor and report on market conditions and events, customers issues and competitive intelligence
- Attend events & trade-shows, customer related meetings and give presentations.
- Work with the supply chain team to ensure accurate forecasting
- 10+ experience in the foodservice industry selling into large food distributors, national accounts and chain accounts
- 5+ years managing sales team
- Ability to manage and motivate a growing sales team
- Strong analytical and as well negotiation and sales skills
- Ability and willingness to be flexible and do what it takes to get the job done
- Proven organizational skills. Coordinate multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, writing, speaking, and presentation skills.
- Strong computer skills. Experience with CRM, accounting, inventory, and/or order management systems

Director of Operations

World Centric sells biodegradable and compostable food service products which are a replacement for Styrofoam, plastic and paper products as part of its mission to reduce environmental degradation.
The candidate will be very hands on, with very strong analytical and as well management skills. The candidate will manage a team and will be responsible for day to day operations and processes related to supplier relationships, procurement, inventory management, international/domestic logistics, order processing, customer service, pricing, and margins. World Centric is a fast paced environment, attention to detail, excellent multi-tasking and time-management skills are required and as well a commitment to environmental and social change. Experience in managing operations in the area of packaged consumer goods is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and optimize supply chain – procurement, inventory usage, demand forecasts and distribution logistics.
- Maintain cordial and effective relationships with suppliers in Asia and negotiate as needed for pricing and delivery times.
- Work with sales team to accurately forecast inventory and optimize inventory distribution to multiple distribution centers.
- Oversee all international logistics, payments to suppliers, landed costs, inventory counts, weekly reconciliations and manage all other aspects of inventory – product descriptions, barcodes, specific customer packaging requirements etc.
- Maintain pricing catalogs with full item specifications and margins. Generate custom pricings as needed.
- Main point of contact for Customer Service, Logistics and Procurement team members
- Oversee and manage operations such as customer packaging/branding specifications, custom item production, retail packaging, etc
- Help implement efficient processes to streamline these and other business operations including shipping, order processing, logistics etc.
- Document procedures and processes for these tasks
- Identify key performance metrics and continually improve on costs and efficiency
- Provide leadership and work well with other team members
- 8+ years experience in a hands-on operations role with strong focus on supply chain, forecasting and procurement.
- Experience managing operations in area of finished/packaged consumer goods strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical/computer skills, experience with ERP (specifically Netsuite), CRM, inventory and order management systems
- Experience in retail/wholesale distribution, multi-location inventory management and logistics
- Willingness to work late evenings/night for 1-2 hours communicating with Asian suppliers as needed
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and experience in food service, packaging, consumer non-durables, plastics industries a plus.
- Ability to speak Mandarin and experience working with Asian suppliers a big plus

- Demonstrated writing and illustration skills
